What is incremental profit?
Incremental profit is the additional profit a business generates from a specific marketing activity, product initiative, or customer interaction that would not have existed without that action. It measures net-new contribution rather than total revenue, making it a more rigorous benchmark for evaluating whether a marketing investment actually created value.
Incremental profit in post-transaction monetization
Post-transaction advertising generates incremental profit by monetizing the confirmation page and other post-purchase surfaces that would otherwise produce zero revenue. Every dollar earned from a commerce media placement on a confirmation page is, by definition, incremental — it is revenue the publisher did not have before adding the monetization layer, with minimal impact on the consumer experience that generated the transaction.
